Erene has offered counselling and psychotherapy services since 2010 in a variety of settings. Her specialist skills are in working with the traumatic impact of sexual abuse with clients of any gender, working in a LGBT+ affirmative way when necessary.

Erene is also a writer, speaker, trainer, and activist. Her latest publication is: ‘Supporting Survivors of Sexual Violence in Psychotherapy: Inside & Outside the Room’ (Routledge, 2021).

She believes that practitioners have a responsibility to advocate in service of our clients in order to maximise the efficacy of psychotherapy. Since 2019 Erene has been part of an independent steering group that has lobbied to change the Crown Prosecution Service guidelines on pre-trial therapy.

Between 2014 and 2018 she set up, and co-ordinated, two services in Leeds where every person referred had experienced abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, financial). At present, she is based solely in her private practice called Therapy Leeds.
