Rachel is an experienced counselling psychotherapist with a Masters in Children and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
Originally from Bath in Somerset, she lives in Dunfermline with her husband and son.
Rachel qualified as a counsellor in 2006 and founded the children’s counselling charity Headroom in 2008. For 10 years Headroom was the largest school-based counselling service in Fife, employing 10 members of staff and servicing 7 schools.
Rachel now runs The Wellbeing Academy, a business providing face-to-face and online counselling for children, adolescents, and adults. She offers a placement programme for student counsellors that provides inexpensive counselling for clients unable to afford private therapy.
Rachel is joint director, along with Moira Hood, of Essential Training Associates. Their passion is to build up a workforce of children and young people’s counsellors across the UK and they currently write and deliver a range of CPD training courses for counsellors. Building on the success of the Children and Young People Matter course, they have now launched the Essential Toolkit.
Rachel is an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and has written a series of articles for the BACP Journal.
